The Night Caller

The Night Caller

From 1959 to 1963, a mysterious attacker terrorized Perth, Australia, committing random and extraordinarily violent crimes. Determined to find the culprit, the Perth police arrested two different suspects. And in a climate of fear, both men were convicted. But the violence didn’t stop. Even when the actual killer was caught and confessed to all the crimes, the first two men remain behind bars. It will be many years until real justice is served for the victims and the innocent.

Good show. It covered topical issue of police misconduct and abuse of their power. Also, the dichotomy of the entitled rich and the beleaguered poor.

Absolutely well-done documentary. Unlike many doc's, The Night Caller doesn't constantly repeat every previous event to "fatten up" length of the the narrative. Instead, it is a gripping and amazingly human look at what happened. Like many other posts on here, I am now a big fan of the two strong role models, Estelle Blackburn and Sally Cooke.

WOW! I've watched a lot of crime documentaries, but this one was right at the top! So well done and detailed! I had not heard of this serial killer before, since I don't live in Australia, so this was all new information for me! It was riveting! I felt so bad for Sally Cooke! What a woman! She ended up successfully raising her seven children on her own and did such a splendid job! And in the face of such adversity! And, my heart went out for Mr. Button as well! What that poor man has lived through all his life. How utterly sad! And all because of the corrupt cops and the evil serial killer. He was another of Cooke's victims.

This is one of the most intense and interesting documentaries I have ever watched. What a intriguing story, its well made and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The raw emotions just flow from this film! You can truly feel what these people survived through and it draws you into the time period.
