The Bridge

The Bridge

A dead body is found on the bridge connecting the USA and Mexico, forcing Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger) from El Paso PD and Mexican policeman Marco Ruiz (Demián Bichir) to work together to catch a grisly serial killer. Marco understands the politics of Mexican law enforcement, and will do whatever it takes to get what he needs. But Sonya strictly follows both rules and protocol. The case leads them to a string of murders on both sides of the border.

This show definitely makes my top 5 list of favorite shows ever. I had to buy season 2 on Amazon Prime and it soon started going downhill. As someone who is on the spectrum, formerly known as Aspergers, I loved Sonia from the start and the fact her Aspergers was obvious but never officially mentioned. She was realistic and the storyline was easy to follow, dark but with just the right amount of humor thanks to characters like Daniel Frye's and I loved old crusty cop Hank. Suddenly, in season 2, Sonia seems to no longer have signs Aspergers and is a normal, empathetic cop which caused me to lose interest in her. As Hank asked Sonia in one scene, "Have you ever spit in the ocean? They are vast, we are not." There is no end to this war. The story would have just continued the same theme over and over. Take down one cartel leader, another steps up. Elenore, who had potential and played the part well, was an unecessary character also. never did figure out whst her purpose was. I wish they would have given it another chance with a 3rd season though, but where would they go with it? Loved every miute of it though.
