The Interrogation

The Interrogation

Directed by David Nath

Norfolk farmer Tony Martin is arrested by police after shooting burglars who’ve broken into his remote farmhouse on a summer evening in 1999. It’s a crime that divides the country. For many, the reclusive Martin is a vulnerable householder plagued by burglaries who acted in self-defence to protect himself and his property. But when the body of 16-year-old Fred Barras is found in the grounds of Martin’s farm, a different view of the eccentric farmer emerges. Is he a reckless vigilante, ready and willing to kill? For the detectives this interrogation hinges on a key issue - did Tony Martin use reasonable force?

"Stand-Your-Ground" is everyone's right. No one has the right to invade your home! I would defend my home and family before I ask any questions..

Honestly... dull. Done entirely through interview reenactments with Steve Pemberton of the League of Gentleman, in a total waste of him. At the end, there's about 2 minutes of footage of the real shooter saying he doesn't care what he did at all, which just makes all the renactment's earlier attempts to portray the shooter's psychological angst seem even more pointless. I got a ten minute nap in though, which is rare for me, so that gets it two stars.

Was expecting a documentary, but it's all just reenactments. Disappointing.
