What a great way of helping Young people coming from homes with dysfunctional parents. This concept could be applied to children in their earlier years. Giving children a chance to become happy productive adults.

If you want evidence that our species is on the way to extinction this is a great movie to watch: teachers over worked and not trained in even basic communication skills (you don't tell people they "Need" to do this or that...you ask questions and focus on them not dictating -especially with teenagers. I worked with kids like the ones in this film and the training we had from conflict resolution specialists etc. taught not to do what the principal in this school is doing all day long. But guess what....it doesn't matter much cause no access to a nights rest and decent nutrition and family counseling and livable wages and affordable housing and transportation...people with advanced degrees homeless etc...don't matter what BS philosophy or quality education you give kids. The "Hero" principal is nearly fanatical which is required by the US horrendous school system especially for communities like the one her kids are in AND she is too intense and dictates too much. The whole thing is a pitiful disaster. There is no "New approach" in this film....same old stuff. Gift certificate for nutrition less food while home life is terrible and parents have not support nor guidance "I took the door to his room" ...wow that is not what UC Davis' parenting classes were teaching over a f'n decade ago. The US is in the dark ages and generally the rest of our species not faring much better. Poor kids...they know what is up. That one who is playing teachers pet..."I've been 18 since I was 13" EYE ROLL. Everyone for themselves...dog eat dog....only dogs don't tend to do that like our species does.
