The Debt |
Discovered at New York's Israeli Film Festival, THE DEBT features everything lovers of historical-political suspense could want from a grown-up movie.
Israeli star Gila Almagor plays war crimes expert Rachel, pulled back into action as a Mossad agent. Turns out Max Rainer, a Nazi war criminal, may not be as dead as she, and the rest of the State of Israel, may think.
As the hunt moves to Ukraine, Rachel is joined by another former agent, Ehud (Oded Teomi) a gun-runner with issues, but they find their target unexpectedly fortified. Then we learn what went wrong the first time around.
"Script by [director Assaf] Bernstein and Ido Rosenblum brilliantly casts Rainer as a gynecologist to whom 'infertile patient' Rachel must repeatedly spread her legs as part of the planned abduction...Leads are excellent, particularl the two Raches and [Edgar] Selge's uber-Nazi, amply aided by Giora Bejach's atmospheric lensing and Jonathan Bar Giora's tense score." - Scheib, Variety |
