Based on their award-winning short, filmmakers Erez Tadmor and Guy Nattiv deliver a fully-realized feature film that traces the star-crossed romance between two sports fan rivals: Eyal, an Israeli living in a kibbutz, and Rana, a Palestinian living in Paris.
They meet in the Berlin subway during the World Cup finals and end up sharing an apartment together during the sporting event. As the final match approaches, their relationship tightens and they fall in love, but Rana is forced to leave Eyal, who remains in Berlin on his own as things get complicated when the Israel-Lebanon war breaks out.
STRANGERS is a story that touches on the profound wounds created by years of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; the story of a young generation asking to reconnect and reconcile.
"STRANGERS plucks at the heart strings, not shamelessly but assertively. It also shows that something good is going on in Israeli filmmaking." - John Anderson, Variety
"An irresistible romance." - Ruth Stein, SF Chronicle |
