Everlasting Moments |
Nominated for a Golden Globe and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Foreign Language Film, EVERLASTING MOMENTS swept Sweden's version of the Academy Awards. "A rich, intensely human story that deals with the mysteries of creativity and love, and the pain and joy of relationships." - Turan, LA Times
Each Oscar season, great films from distant lands whisper in the ears of movie lovers and voters alike, films you are lucky to see once but that haunt you forever. EVERLASTING MOMENTS, Oscar-nominated director Jan Troeller's acclaimed look at how love and desire, memory and art can co-mingle in the psyche, is one of those films.
Sweden in the early 1900s was a time of social change, unrest, war and poverty. Maria, a young, working-class woman, wins a camera in a lottery and her decision to keep it changes her whole life. The camera enables Maria to see the world through new eyes, but it also becomes a threat to her alcoholic, womanizing husband as it brings a charming photographer into her life. |
